To properly ensure all member interests are served effectively, NECSEMA offers 5 categories of membership - Retailer, Wholesale Energy Marketer, Affiliate, Associate and Ambassador.

- Retailer Members are individuals, firms, partnerships, corporations or other organizations operating a retail convenience store.
- Wholesale Energy Marketer Members are persons or entities engaged independently in motor fuel wholesaling in New England.
- Affiliate Members are integrated oil companies.
- Associate Members are direct suppliers of products or services to the retail and/or motor fuel marketer industry.
- Ambassador Members are former members who are retired or no longer in the business. It is a membership for individuals who wish to stay updated and engaged with the C-Store and Energy Industry.
